Fans will enthusiastically embrace new technologies. Usually they do not explore it, but are happy to include it in their processes when necessary.

Opponents usually resist new technologies and often speak very frankly about their opposition. They often complain about any changes and will often never change if they do not need it or if they stop before they have to “change their lifestyle”.

The performance curve varies over time for each of these types of people. Think about how everyone in your organization relates to these four types. Think about how this will affect the benefits you have been carefully looking for. Think about how this will affect your ability to discover additional benefits once technology is introduced. Understanding differences can help smooth out difficult moments during and after the implementation process.
